BREAKING: Tension As Investigation Team From Canada Storm Abuja Over Explosion At Canadian High Commission

A Canadian investigative team is presently in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, to inquire into an explosion that took place at the Canadian High Commission in Nigeria, as reported by The PUNCH.

The fire incident occurred on November 6 in the High Commission’s generator house, resulting in two fatalities and injuring two other individuals. Subsequent to the incident, the commission temporarily suspended its operations, although it stated that its visa application centers in Lagos and Abuja would remain operational.

As disclosed in a statement on Tuesday by the Public Affairs staff of the commission, Demilade Kosemani, the investigative team will collaborate with relevant Nigerian authorities in conducting their inquiry.

“Following an explosion in the generator room at the Canadian High Commission in Nigeria on November 6th that claimed two lives and left two others injured, a team of technical experts from Canada arrived in Abuja to conduct a formal investigation to determine the factors and conditions that led to the explosion.

“Efforts are being undertaken to coordinate the work of the Canadian investigation team with the relevant Nigerian authorities in line with their respective mandates,” the statement partly read.
