Adeoye made this revelation during a press conference at the police headquarters in Awka on Monday. He highlighted that the arrests occurred between December 1, 2023, and the present date, displaying some of the suspects and recovered items.

In various encounters with criminals, he disclosed that two kidnapped victims were rescued, but several police officers sustained injuries during the operations.

Out of the thirty suspects, he specified that twelve were linked to kidnapping, nine to armed robbery, six to cult activities, and three to insurgency.

The individuals were reportedly captured at different locations based on intelligence.

The commissioner provided further details, stating that 12 firearms, 40 live ammunition, and 11 stolen vehicles were seized from the criminal group.

“We sacrificed our Christmas and New Year celebrations to ensure Anambra was safe. It is our delight that people had a peaceful celebration,” Adeoye remarked.

He also mentioned the pursuit and confrontation with criminals responsible for killing two police officers from Enugu State Command at Uga Roundabout, Aguata LGA, on December 28, 2023.

On December 31, 2023, the command engaged them at their camp in Ogboji, Orumba South Local Government Area, resulting in the death of three criminals. Two police officers were injured in the process, and a 51-year-old kidnapped man was rescued.

Adeoye emphasized the commitment of the command to continue efforts until all insurgents are brought to justice, providing an update on the achievements in the fight against criminal activities.

“The command since December 1, 2023, has arrested 12 kidnap suspects, nine armed robbery suspects, six cultists, and three insurgents. Also, 11 stolen vehicles were recovered, 12 firearms recovered, and 40 live ammunition were recovered from the criminal groups in the period under review,” he stated
