Highlighting his unwavering faith in the judicial process, Shekarau emphasized that neither abuse, animosity, nor hate speech could sway the decision on the allocation or denial of political power.
This appeal comes amidst the ongoing legal dispute between NNPP’s Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and APC’s candidate, Yusuf Gawuna, stemming from the contentious governorship election in the previous year.
Having faced unfavorable rulings from both the Tribunal and the Appeal Court, Governor Yusuf is currently appealing the case at the Supreme Court.
The outcome of this legal battle holds significant importance in determining the political leadership of Kano State.
Shekarau’s call for the acceptance of the Supreme Court’s decision serves as a plea for political stability and a commitment to upholding the rule of law.
He emphasized the need for a civilized approach in politics, advocating that, once the court issues its verdict, both parties should embrace peace and respect the outcome.
Quoting a popular saying, Shekarau stated, “Whoever is not prepared to lose is not a civilized candidate,” emphasizing the inevitability of uncertainties in elections.
He urged the NNPP and APC to refrain from engaging in abuses, hatred, or hate speeches, emphasizing that such actions wouldn’t guarantee or deny them political power.
