According to the Acting Deputy Director of 82 Division, Army Public Relations, Jonah Unuakhalu, the troops identified the corpses as police officers after finding scattered uniforms and badges within the camp.
The statement released on Friday further detailed that the joint operation involved the Nigerian Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, and Civil Defence.
The troops, shocked by the revelation, also uncovered disturbing activities at the camp, including occultic practices and acts of cannibalism.
The ESN camp was subsequently destroyed, and improvised explosive devices discovered at the scene were neutralized.
Notably, rank badges belonging to two policemen kidnapped along the Enugu-Portharcourt road were recovered during the operation.
Other items seized included Biafran currencies, fake US dollar bills, Biafran Liberation Army T-shirts, military kit bags, cables used for IED detonation, and axes, along with various Biafran insignia.
Two suspects were apprehended during the raid, and the burnt corpses of police officers were retrieved for proper burial. The operation marks a significant effort in addressing security challenges posed by separatist groups in the region.
