Assistant Commissioner of Police and police spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the arrest of the dismissed officer, Ahmed Mohammed, during a press briefing at the headquarters of the Special Tactical Squad-Intelligence Response Team in Abuja.

According to Adejobi, Mohammed, who served in the Air Force for five years before facing court-martial for undisclosed reasons, was allegedly involved in supplying military camouflage and equipment to bandits operating in Zamfara State.

The suspect reportedly introduced the sales of military gear to Mushiri Abubakar, who then distributed these items to various criminal groups, including Bello Turji’s notorious gang responsible for rampant violence in the region.

During their arrest, law enforcement agents recovered 10 sets of military camouflage uniforms, 10 camel packs, 12 military hats, 3 cardigans, 3 T-shirts, 2 belts, and 3 anklets from Mohammed and Abubakar.

Adejobi stated, “Further investigation revealed that Mushiri Abubakar had supplied military materials to the Notorious Bello Turji.”

The police spokesperson emphasized the ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks providing weapons and ammunition to bandits, stressing the importance of cutting off their supply lines to prevent further bloodshed and instill confidence in the affected communities.
