Woman Arrested For Attempting To End Her Baby’s Life Using Insecticide In Lagos

According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the police spokesperson in the state, the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, reported the incident to the police on Friday.

The chief security officer at the hospital informed the police that the mother had brought her one-year-and-seven-months-old daughter to the hospital for treatment.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that the mother confessed to a doctor at the hospital that she gave the child “Sniper” to drink on Sunday when her convulsions were not subsiding.

“The mother said she gave the liquid to her child so she could rest from her excessive convulsions,” said Hundeyin.

Following the report, detectives were immediately dispatched to the hospital where they found the baby receiving treatment. Subsequently, the mother was taken in for investigation after the child had undergone treatment.
