Journalists were taken on a tour of the airport and the agro-processing zone, both of which are ready for launch by President Tinubu.

Governor Bago disclosed that the airport is nearing completion, standing at an impressive 99 percent rate, with only minor clean-up operations remaining. With approximately 1,000 hectares of land available, the state aims to become a significant player in the North Central aero hub.

Drip irrigation will be utilized for greenhouses within the agro-processing zone, expected to become the largest facility of its kind on the African continent.

Furthermore, a dedicated area within the airport will enable the swift transportation of fresh vegetables and fruits both domestically and internationally.

Governor Bago emphasized that an additional 1,000 hectares of land will be allocated for dairy products, which will be exported to other states and across the world.

He stated, “Niger State sells an average of half a million cattle to Nigerians and outside Nigeria daily. So, I will have to redirect it in a way that you don’t need to transport these cattle at all and in Niger State, you can take the meat that is frozen anywhere and it will create employment, create a value chain.”
