The move comes after a video depicting the bullying of a female student at the school went viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage.

In the lawsuit filed on May 9, 2024, at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, through her legal representative, Marvin Omorogbe, Esq, of Deji Adeyanju and Partners, Bwala seeks redress for the emotional distress and trauma she endured due to the incident.

Among the demands outlined in the lawsuit, Bwala is seeking a public apology to be published in two national newspapers and ₦500 million in general damages from Lead British International School Ltd.

The lawsuit alleges that the school failed in its duty of care towards Bwala by not preventing the assault and emotional distress she suffered while under its custody and supervision. It further accuses the school of negligence for failing to promptly inform Bwala’s parents of the incident and conduct an immediate investigation.

Marvin Omorogbe, Esq, expressed confidence that the lawsuit would lead to significant changes within the school and prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

Lead British International School, Gwarimpa, Abuja, has yet to respond publicly to the lawsuit, and a date for the hearing has not been scheduled at the time of this report.
