Ogbe-Obi And Ogbe-Iyase Communities Sounds-Alarm Over Land Grabbing-Syndicate (Details)
Tensions are rising in the Ubulu-Okiti community as the people of Ogbe-Obi and Ogbe-Iyase issue a stern warning to the Delta State government, urging immediate intervention to prevent potential unrest. The warning comes amidst allegations of land seizure by the Isah community in the Ogwashi-Uku kingdom, sparking fears of conflict in the region.
A tripartite meeting involving representatives from Ubulu-Okiti, Agidiehe community in Ogwashi-Uku, and Ani-Agbala community in Ubulu-Uku has shed light on the escalating dispute. The parties involved have denounced the Utomi family from Isah-Ogwashi, labeling them as intruders with no rightful claim to land within the Ubulu-Okiti community.
Churchill Mafiana, Secretary to the Ubulu-Okiti Land Committee, and Chief Patrick Ofuani, speaking on behalf of Ogbe-Obi in Ubulu-Okiti, expressed concern over the havoc wreaked by the alleged land grabbers, who have obstructed farming activities in the area.
Chief Uche Okocha, representing the Agidiehe Community in Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom, emphasized that Isah-Ogwashi has no territorial boundaries with Ubulu-Okiti, challenging the legitimacy of their claims.
Further complicating the situation, Mr. Jerry Isichei affirmed the longstanding peaceful coexistence between Ani-Agbala Community and Ubulu-Okiti, dispelling any notion of land disputes between the two communities.
However, Chief Chinedu Utomi, the Okwabani of Isah-Ogwashi-Uku, refuted allegations of land grabbing, attributing the actions to a few individuals within the community. He emphasized that efforts have been made to address the issue through legal channels, urging against the generalization of blame to the entire Isah-Ogwashi-Uku community.
As tensions mount and accusations fly, stakeholders await decisive action from the authorities to defuse the situation and prevent potential conflict in the region.
