Edo Labour Party Guber Candidate Akpata Mourns Chief Iwuanyanwu And Senator Ubah

Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata, the Labour Party’s gubernatorial candidate for Edo State, has expressed profound grief over the recent deaths of Chief Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Iwuanyanwu, CFR, and Senator Ifeanyi Patrick Ubah. Chief Iwuanyanwu, a towering figure in Nigerian socio-economic and political spheres, passed away on July 25, 2024, at the age of 82, while Senator Ubah, known for his dynamic career and dedication to youth development, died the following day at 52.

In his heartfelt statement, Akpata reflected on the remarkable legacies of the deceased, stating, “Chief Iwuanyanwu was a true colossus whose influence spanned industry, politics, sports, and the media. His unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s unity and progress, even amid the nation’s challenges, set a sterling example of patriotism.” Akpata further noted Iwuanyanwu’s significant contributions as the publisher of Champion newspapers, which advanced the cause of a free press and democracy in Nigeria.

Regarding Senator Ubah, Akpata praised his transformative impact on Nigerian politics and business. “Senator Ubah’s life trajectory, from entrepreneur to politician, embodied both the possibilities and complexities of Nigeria’s evolving democracy,” Akpata remarked. He also acknowledged Ubah’s contributions to sports and youth development through FC Ifeanyi Ubah, highlighting how these efforts transcended political boundaries.

Akpata extended his condolences to the bereaved families, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, and the people of Anambra South Senatorial District. He expressed solidarity with those affected by the losses and urged Nigerians to draw inspiration from the legacies of both men. “Their lives remind us that leadership is a journey of both triumphs and challenges, and that true legacy lies in the impact we have on the lives of others,” Akpata concluded.
