Curfew Imposed on Kaduna and Zaria: Governor Uba Sani’s Response to Rising Violence
Kaduna, Nigeria – In a decisive move to address escalating unrest, the Kaduna State Security Council, led by Governor Uba Sani, has announced a 24-hour curfew on Kaduna and Zaria metropolitan areas. The curfew, effective immediately, comes as a response to the recent hijacking of protests by criminal elements.
According to the Security Council, there is substantial evidence that the protests, initially peaceful, have been overtaken by individuals engaging in looting and vandalism of both private and public property. This surge in violence prompted the council to implement the curfew to safeguard citizens and restore order.
Residents of Kaduna and Zaria are urged to stay indoors during this period. Security forces will be actively monitoring the situation to ensure compliance and address any security concerns. The curfew will be reassessed based on the evolving situation to determine if further action is needed.
For further updates and information, citizens should remain tuned to official channels. The Kaduna State Government is committed to maintaining safety and security throughout this period.
