Tailor vs Board Chairman Challenge: Edo Residents Shred Asue Ighodalo Over Oshiomhole Remarks
Edo State residents have erupted on social media after PDP gubernatorial candidate, Asue Ighodalo, referred to former governor Adams Oshiomhole as a “Tailor” during a recent BBC interview, while touting himself as a “Board Chairman.”
However, what Ighodalo may not have anticipated is the swift backlash from the people of Edo, who have since dragged him for what they see as an ungrateful and hypocritical remark, given that he served under Oshiomhole’s administration for eight years.
Social media has been buzzing with responses, many of which point out the irony of Ighodalo’s statement. A Facebook user hit hard, writing: “A Board Chairman who served under a tailor for eight years? No wonder they say school is a scam! Tailor employed you for 8 years, but now you dey make mouth?”
Another tweet took the sarcasm a step further, stating: “Na tailor do the road wey lead to board chairman village o! But chairman no fit even patch road for im own community. Tailor sef go fit employ you again!” The biting humor continued as a resident commented: “At least we see everything wey tailor do for his village. Mr. Board Chairman, wetin your people benefit from your big grammar and titles? Tailor still employ you for 8 years!”
The irony wasn’t lost on another Edo citizen, who posted: “Tailor Oshiomhole, former NLC president, two-term governor, former APC National Chairman, current Senator… meanwhile, our dear ‘Board Chairman’ is still looking for relevance. If not for that tailor, nobody for sabi your name, Asue!”
Others didn’t hold back in roasting Ighodalo for underestimating Oshiomhole’s influence. One resident sarcastically remarked: *“Wow, a technocrat and a board chairman both served as apprentices under a tailor. What a life! Oshiomhole na your oga, no dey deny am!”
To cap it off, another Facebook user put things in perspective: “Asue, without Oshiomhole, you for still be anonymous. Let’s face it, the ‘tailor’ gave you a platform. But now you want to throw shade? Na tailor wey give you job for 8 years, and even now sef, tailor pass you in every way!”
It’s clear that Ighodalo’s attempt to undermine Oshiomhole has backfired, with many Edo residents proudly defending the man who they say has accomplished more as a ‘Tailor’ than Ighodalo ever could as a ‘Board Chairman.’
