Obaseki’s PDP Reign Of Terror Continues: Okpebholo’s Campaign Targeted In Fresh Violent Attack
Press Release
In yet another brazen and intolerable attack, the campaign trail of Senator Monday Okpebholo, the APC governorship candidate, was ruthlessly targeted by thugs loyal to the PDP at Ugbekpe Ekperi Ward 6, Etsako Central Local Government.
This calculated act of violence comes after the APC candidate’s highly successful rallies in Anegbette and Udaba, marking the third time Senator Okpebholo has been subject to such cowardly ambushes.
Let it be clear: this is not a political contest anymore; this is an open war on democracy itself, orchestrated by elements within the PDP who fear their imminent defeat. The attack today is just the latest in a series of violence against the APC campaign, including the horrific murder of Inspector Akor Onu in Benin and the wanton destruction of APC campaign vehicles in Akoko Edo.
We can no longer sit idly by while the government of Governor Godwin Obaseki arms our youths and turns them into pawns for violence and mayhem. The people of Edo deserve peace, progress, and the opportunity to elect their leaders in an atmosphere free from intimidation and bloodshed. The PDP and their government’s obsession with power at all costs must not be allowed to drown Edo State in chaos.
These violent attacks against Senator Okpebholo, a man committed to peace and development, show the PDP’s true nature: a party that has lost the confidence of the people and now resorts to terror and criminality. It is shocking that rather than lead with civility and respect for human life, the Edo State government has seemingly decided to turn our young men into militants, distributing guns instead of empowering them with skills and opportunities. This is not governance; this is tyranny and a reckless betrayal of the trust of the Edo people!
We challenge Governor Obaseki and the PDP to denounce these barbaric acts of violence and assure the people of Edo that they are committed to a peaceful election. The safety of our people should be paramount, and any government that fails to protect its citizens has failed entirely.
Senator Monday Okpebholo remains undeterred. His vision for a prosperous Edo State will not be shaken by bullets or thuggery. The people of Edo know better than to fall for the traps set by the PDP. We are calling on all well-meaning citizens to stand firm in rejecting violence and intimidation, and to stand behind Senator Okpebholo, a man who has demonstrated time and again that he is ready to lead Edo State to greatness.
Enough is enough! The bloodshed must stop, and those responsible must be brought to justice. Edo State cannot afford to be plunged into darkness and lawlessness just because one party refuses to accept that their time is up. Let the people’s voices be heard through the ballot, not through violence.
We urge the security agencies to act swiftly in investigating and prosecuting those responsible for these attacks. We will not allow the PDP’s desperation to undermine the will of the people. Edo must rise above this madness, and with Senator Monday Okpebholo, a brighter, more peaceful future awaits.
