The Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals has increased its Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, price from ₦1,185 to ₦1,200 per litre, in a development that could trigger fresh increases in pump prices across the country.

According to Ireporter Online, the latest adjustment took effect on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, representing a ₦15 increase in the refinery’s gantry price.

The new price was communicated to customers in a notice issued by the refinery’s Group Commercial Operations on Tuesday. The notice also contained revised prices for gantry and coastal deliveries.

Under the new pricing arrangement, the coastal delivery price rose from ₦1,562,265 per metric tonne to ₦1,582,380 per metric tonne.

Customers were also directed to return existing Authorisation to Collect documents for repricing before new volume contracts would be issued to enable loading to resume.

The latest adjustment comes just five days after the refinery increased its petrol price from ₦1,165 to ₦1,185 per litre on August 21. With the latest hike, the refinery’s gantry price has risen by ₦35 per litre within five days.

The development is expected to place additional pressure on petrol prices at filling stations as marketers factor in transportation, depot charges and other downstream expenses into their selling prices.

The latest adjustment comes amid continued volatility in the international oil market. Despite movements in global crude prices, Nigeria’s domestic petrol market has continued to experience fluctuations.

Following the refinery’s latest directive, marketers and depot operators who received the notice have reportedly commenced the process of returning existing Authorisation to Collect documents for repricing.

The repricing exercise is expected to pave the way for the issuance of new volume contracts and the resumption of product loading under the revised price structure.

The development also comes amid renewed uncertainty in the global energy market, with geopolitical tensions contributing to fluctuations in crude oil prices.
