Sokoto Government Proposes N119bn Supplementary Budget, Focuses On Road Reconstruction

Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu, alongside the Executive Council, has approved a supplementary budget of N119 billion for submission to the state House of Assembly. This new budget allocation includes significant investments in infrastructure, such as N17.9 billion for road reconstruction and N11.8 billion for the 40.7-kilometer Illela-Gada road.

The budget also includes N3.2 billion for the Wurno-Huchi road and N2.9 billion for the construction of the Romo bridge. Additionally, N156.7 million has been allocated for rehabilitating the oldest Islamiyya school in the state.

Commissioner of Budget and Economic Planning, Balarabe Kadadi, detailed that the supplementary budget includes funds from various sources including NG-CARES and Palliative funds. Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Dr. Jabir Maihula, emphasized the importance of these projects in fulfilling the Governor’s promises and enhancing the state’s economic infrastructure.
