Abia State Sees Significant Fuel Price Drop As NNPC Improves Supply Chain

This reduction comes as the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) opened its portal, allowing members of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) to request and pay for fuel directly.

Petroleum marketers in Aba and Umuahia have already started sourcing fuel directly from the NNPC, leading to a noticeable decline in prices.

During a press conference on Monday, Mazi Oliver Okolo, the Executive Chairman of the IPMAN Aba branch, confirmed that fuel supply from NNPC has improved, and there is optimism that prices will drop even further. Okolo mentioned that the supply chain is now more direct from the NNPC, which is expected to stabilize prices.

He further stated that if the Aba depot becomes operational and fuel is sourced directly from NNPC or the Port Harcourt refinery, prices could fall to as low as ₦900.00 per litre.

Okolo also emphasized the importance of road infrastructure in the supply process and thanked the state governor, Alex Otti, for initiating the rehabilitation of the Osisioma-NNPC-Ekeakpara road, a federal government project. He expressed concern over the financial strain faced by IPMAN members due to the high costs of sourcing fuel from third-party suppliers but remained hopeful that the current developments will help alleviate those challenges.
