167 Dead, Dozens Injured As Tanker Explosion Rocks Majiya Town Jigawa Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has confirmed the tragic death of 167 people following a fuel tanker explosion in Majiya town, Taura Local Government Area. Governor Namadi expressed deep sorrow, revealing that as of Thursday, 167 lives had been lost in the disaster.

Additionally, 67 victims are currently receiving medical treatment for injuries sustained in the explosion, with patients spread across medical facilities within and outside Jigawa State.

Governor Namadi expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Kano State Government for its support, particularly for the N100 million donation aimed at helping the victims and their families. He assured that the funds would be used effectively.

The tanker explosion, which has drawn global attention and condolences, led to a mass burial for the first 147 victims, most of whom perished while attempting to collect fuel.
