 President Tinubu Appeals For Greater UK Involvement In African Issues, Highlights Sudan Conflict

In a statement released by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, he expressed support for collaborative growth.

“I am pleased that Nigeria is your first destination. Our shared history has brought us this far. The current challenges we face call for unity and inclusivity. Nigeria and Britain have a longstanding relationship that we have always valued,” he stated.

President Tinubu urged the United Kingdom to deepen its engagement with Africa by taking a greater interest in conflicts affecting nations like Sudan, especially regarding humanitarian issues.

“We are facing security challenges in West Africa and have been receiving displaced individuals from countries such as Mali and Burkina Faso. We are striving to restore peace.

“We encourage Britain to focus more on African nations, particularly Sudan, in addition to its attention on Ukraine. Humanity compels us to acknowledge these matters. We are prepared to collaborate with you,” he asserted.

Tinubu also informed the Foreign Secretary that Nigeria’s economic reforms are progressive and aimed at stimulating long-term economic growth.

Lastly, he expressed gratitude to King Charles III for the warm welcome he received during his visit to Buckingham Palace in London.
