We Tried Connecting With Kemi Badenoch, But No Response  NiDCOM’s Dabiri-Erewa

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), revealed that her office attempted to contact the newly elected leader of the UK’s Conservative Party, Kemi Badenoch, but received no response. Speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Wednesday, Dabiri-Erewa emphasized that NiDCOM is open to all Nigerians abroad, but it’s up to individuals like Badenoch to choose to connect with their Nigerian roots. She remarked, “We’ve reached out once or twice without any reply, but we can’t force people to embrace being Nigerian.”

She explained that NiDCOM welcomes those who identify with their Nigerian heritage, noting previous instances where Nigerians abroad connected with the Commission. She added that it is ultimately up to Badenoch to decide if she wants to recognize and work with her Nigerian identity.
