This decision follows threats from unknown gunmen who warned of potential disruption if the burial proceeds without addressing certain unresolved issues. The situation intensified on Wednesday night, when gunmen attacked Nnewi, killing several people and setting a vehicle on fire, causing panic and prompting residents to flee for safety.

With the burial scheduled for Friday in Umuanuka village, Otolo Nnewi, the state government has issued a directive, via WhatsApp, to close schools in the area until Tuesday. Parents of day students have also been urged to keep their children at home for their safety.

A circular from the Commissioner of Education reads: “Please inform parents that day students should not attend school until Tuesday next week.
