Police Confirm Nnewi Shooting Won’t Disrupt Ifeanyi Ubah’s Burial Plans

Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, explained that the gunfire was caused by a misunderstanding between security agencies, where one group mistakenly identified police officers as hostile forces and opened fire.

Ikenga assured the public that the incident, which occurred at Izuchukwu Junction on the Nnobi/Nnewi road, was not the work of unknown gunmen. He further stated that the shooting resulted from a confrontation between security operatives pursuing a suspect, which led to a gunfight. Unfortunately, a vehicle carrying the officers was hit, causing it to catch fire. Two bystanders were injured and have been hospitalized.

The Police have urged calm, emphasizing that investigations are underway and that additional security measures are in place to ensure a peaceful atmosphere during Ubah’s burial.
