While Osinbajo has remained relatively low-profile in political activities since leaving office in 2023, Akande stressed that the former Vice President has not signaled any intention to leave the APC. Speculation arose after Osinbajo’s unsuccessful bid for the party’s presidential nomination in 2022, which saw him lose to President Bola Tinubu.

Some analysts have speculated that Osinbajo’s reduced involvement may be due to his recent appointment as Global Advisor for the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP), while others believe it is a result of his primary defeat.
