Speaking on Channels TV’s Law Weekly program on January 11, 2025, Taiwo asserted that the NBA avoids addressing issues involving prominent legal practitioners, suggesting a culture of favoritism within the profession.

“We’ve seen cases involving very senior lawyers where petitions are filed, and nothing comes of them,” Taiwo remarked. “The NBA must rise to the occasion and ensure accountability among all lawyers, regardless of status. The heavens won’t fall if you address misconduct.”

He criticized what he described as a “you scratch my back, I scratch yours” attitude within the association, emphasizing the need to prioritize the integrity of the legal profession.

Additionally, Justice Taiwo pointed to conflicting judgments in the judiciary as a result of poor communication and coordination among judges. He proposed that judgments be better circulated to ensure consistency.

The retired judge also called for reforms in the LPDC, stating, “The committee is not functioning as effectively as it should.
