Deadly Assault: Bandits Execute Young Man And Abduct Five, Sparking Outrage In Kaduna

In a tragic incident, bandits have reportedly killed 27-year-old Piti Ezekiel and abducted five individuals in Akansan Garmadi, Rumaya Community, located in Kwassam ward of Kauru Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

Danbaba Katuka, National Secretary of the Kauru Local Government Area Community Development Associations Forum, shared the grim details during a phone interview with PUNCH Online on Friday. The identified abductees include 46-year-old Afiniki Baban Gida, 41-year-old Afiniki Timothy, 40-year-old Talatu Timothy, 36-year-old Manayi Abu, and 42-year-old Richard Dalhatu. In a fortunate turn, Mr. Timothy Daure, aged 48 and a traditional titleholder in Kumana Chiefdom, survived with gunshot wounds.

According to Katuka, the attack occurred around 10:30 PM on Thursday, as the assailants invaded the village, taking strategic positions and firing indiscriminately. This latest violence adds to the insecurity that has plagued the Kauru Local Government Area, crippling the local economy and displacing numerous families.

“This marks the first attack on our community, bringing fear to our residents. The government must act swiftly before these terrorists completely overthrow the Kauru communities,” Katuka urged.

The community has seen consistent assaults from bandits, with little to no action taken by the government to combat these criminal activities. “There is an urgent need for robust military operations to eliminate these bandits from their hideouts,” he emphasized.

Due to the persistent threat, many locals have fled their homes, abandoning their farms and livelihoods for fear of attacks or kidnappings. Katuka assured that communities are willing to provide all necessary support to help resolve the security issues plaguing Kauru.
