Rivers LG Polls: RSIEC Receives Revised Voters Register from INEC
The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) has announced the receipt of the updated Register of Voters for the state from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as part of preparations for the upcoming Local Government Council Elections scheduled for August 9, 2025. The updated register was officially handed over to RSIEC on March 13, 2025.
In a statement issued by Pastor Taninotonye Tobins, RSIEC’s Commissioner for Media & Civic Education, the commission also confirmed the acquisition of the current list of registered political parties in Nigeria. These crucial documents were released following RSIEC’s formal request to INEC.
The RSIEC Chairman and members assured the public of their commitment to conducting credible, free, and fair elections, emphasizing the importance of transparency in the electoral process. The commission expressed its readiness to ensure a smooth electoral exercise in August 2025.
This move follows INEC’s confirmation, through Administrative Secretary Odor Napoleon Emezuruike, that the updated voters’ register and list of political parties were provided to RSIEC as requested.
The developments mark a significant step in the preparations for the elections, aimed at ensuring effective governance at the local government level in Rivers State.
