Kanu’s lead counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, confirmed that the legal team is prepared for the new trial, although they have not yet been served with the charges Kanu will face. Ejimakor expressed concern that the government may delay serving the charges, making it difficult for the defense to prepare adequately.
The trial will effectively reset, with all previous proceedings from 2015, including pending appeals, being nullified. Kanu will be rearraigned on new charges that remain unclear to his legal team.
Kanu’s case has garnered significant attention, with his supporters closely following the developments surrounding the trial.
