Despite Kylian Mbappé’s brace for Madrid, Lewandowski responded with a double of his own, maintaining a three-goal lead in the race for Spain’s Golden Boot.

Barcelona, who remain unbeaten in 20 matches this year, took the lead just before halftime when Ladislav Krejci scored an own goal. Girona managed to equalize through Arnaut Danjuma, but Lewandowski scored two more goals, and Ferran Torres added a fourth to seal the win.

Although Girona had defeated Barcelona twice last season, they have struggled this year and currently sit in 13th place.

Lewandowski reflected on the match, saying, “We played with patience and followed our plan. When we stick to it, we can score plenty of goals and win.” He also expressed confidence in his ability to continue playing at the top level, despite his age. “I know people talk about my age, but I feel very good physically. Gazzaniga made another crucial save from Lewandowski, but Barcelona went ahead before halftime after Krejci accidentally turned a Yamal free-kick into his own net.

Girona responded quickly in the second half, with Danjuma scoring an equalizer in the 53rd minute. However, Barcelona regained the lead just minutes later, with Lewandowski netting his 24th goal of the season after a precise flick through the goalkeeper’s legs.

Lewandowski sealed the win with his 25th goal, finishing off an assist from Frenkie de Jong. Torres added a fourth, and Yamal hit the crossbar with a curling shot.

This marked the 20th time this season Barcelona had scored four or more goals in a match, as they continue to chase a potential treble under Hansi Flick’s management.
