Gwamnishu revealed that the kidnappers, believed to be Fulani armed bandits, made the ransom demands in exchange for the victims’ safe return. The victims included an airport driver, identified as Chibueze, and a passenger he was transporting from Issele-Uku to Asaba.

He shared the details on Facebook, saying, “Yesterday evening, they carried out another attack at the Issele-Uku Express. One of the victims is an airport driver, Chibueze, and a passenger he was carrying.”

The kidnappers reportedly held the victims between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Gwamnishu added that the ransom, which included food items like jollof rice, chicken, and energy drinks, was delivered at the Ubulu-Okiti Express, just a short distance from where the kidnapping took place.

He expressed concern about the inadequate funding and resources available to local vigilante groups, who lack the necessary equipment to confront the growing menace of kidnapping. “The locals complained that they are not funded and do not have the proper materials. If they were equipped, they would be able to confront these bandits in the bush. I believe them 100%,” he said.

Gwamnishu urged residents of communities in the area, including Ogwashi-Uku, Azagba-Ogwashi, Issele-Azagba, Edo-Ogwashi, and others, to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
