Bala Mohammed Atiku and Buhari

Mohammed Atiku-Abubakar, son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has accused Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed of secretly aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The allegation came in response to remarks by Shamsu Bala, the governor’s son, who claimed that his father had never supported Atiku’s presidential ambitions in 2019 and 2023. Shamsu also warned that his father would not back Atiku in the 2027 elections.

In a statement issued to the press on Monday in Abuja, Mohammed Atiku-Abubakar refuted Shamsu’s claims, stating that his father had never received any support from Bala Mohammed in his presidential runs. He added that the real difference now is that Shamsu had dropped the pretense of his father’s supposed backing.

Mohammed also criticized Shamsu Bala for his “arrogant” attitude and his inflated sense of importance, linking it to his father’s inability to manage the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum. He further emphasized that Atiku’s political ambitions had never been about personal grudges and that his father’s commitment to politics had always remained above such disputes.

Mohammed stressed, “Let it be known to Shamsu that Atiku has never wasted time on his father’s political issues, which were entirely local. At no point has Bala Mohammed supported Atiku Abubakar, and the role he played in 2023 against the party’s presidential candidate is still fresh in people’s minds.”
