The Borno State Police Command’s spokesperson, ASP Nahum Daso, confirmed the incident and stated that the injured victims had been swiftly transported to the State Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri for treatment.

“I confirm that the incident happened. Four persons died and 10 sustained various degrees of injuries,” he said.

Eyewitnesses noted that the explosion led to a major traffic gridlock, with vehicles stranded for hours on the busy highway.

This tragic event comes just two months after a similar explosion on April 12, also in Komala village, where eight people died and 11 others were injured when a Hummer bus ran over a planted IED allegedly laid by Boko Haram terrorists.

Security authorities are currently investigating the repeated placement of explosive devices along this vital transport route, which continues to endanger civilian lives.
