Fire Tears Through TASUED Students’ Apartment, Valuables Reduced to Ashes

A fire outbreak on Wednesday ravaged a student apartment complex near Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) in Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, destroying several rooms and personal belongings in the process.

According to IReporter Online, the affected building, known as Amazing Glory Villa, is located behind the popular Ace Bar within the university community and is home to multiple undergraduates. Preliminary reports suggest the fire was triggered by an electrical fault, although investigations into the exact cause were still ongoing at the time of filing this report.

The Public Relations Officer of the Students’ Union, Oluwashinayomi Ogunfowora, who visited the site, confirmed the incident and extended sympathy to the victims. In a statement, he noted that the fire erupted suddenly, leaving significant damage in its wake.

Video footage from the scene, reviewed by correspondents, shows multiple rooms engulfed in flames, with several students’ valuables—ranging from electronics to academic materials—completely destroyed.

Ogunfowora stated that once the union was alerted, swift action was taken to mobilize emergency response teams, including firefighters, to contain the blaze and prevent further spread.

He urged students to adopt stricter safety habits in their hostels, including turning off electrical appliances before leaving their rooms to reduce the risk of similar incidents in the future.

Although no injuries or fatalities were reported, the emotional and financial toll on the affected students remains substantial, with many reportedly displaced.

Authorities are expected to conduct a full investigation into the incident and assess safety standards in nearby student accommodations.
