The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, has congratulated Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, on their emphatic victory over Mali in the finals of the 2025 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket, where they clinched the championship for a historic seventh time.

The Speaker, in a statement made available on Sunday, praised the team—coached by Rena Wakama—for bringing immense pride to the nation.

He described their win at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, as a monumental moment that further cements Nigeria’s dominance in African basketball.
