APC Drops Bombshell: El-Rufai Plotting Atiku’s 2027 Comeback via ADC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly accused former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, of orchestrating plans to install former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the presidential flagbearer of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 general elections.

According to the APC, this alleged plot is a deliberate attempt to undermine Nigeria’s principle of power rotation by positioning another northern candidate to succeed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a southerner.

This claim was made in an official statement released on Monday by the APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka. The party also condemned El-Rufai’s recent comments criticizing President Tinubu’s administration as “incompetent and clannish,” remarks reportedly made during a political gathering in Sokoto over the weekend.

Morka stated that rather than offering meaningful policy alternatives, El-Rufai and his associates in the ADC have resorted to attacking the current government through the media. He described their political maneuvering as dangerous and destabilizing.

“El-Rufai and Atiku want to do to Nigeria what they did to the PDP—create confusion and hijack the system for selfish gain,” Morka asserted. “Their actions in the ADC present a direct threat to Nigeria’s unity, peace, and democratic progress.”

The statement also accused the duo of lacking any credible vision for Nigeria’s development and labeled their efforts as self-serving.

These tensions emerge amidst rising speculation about new political alliances and defections ahead of the 2027 elections.
