Fresh Flood Disaster Hits Adamawa, Villages Submerged, Farmlands Destroyed

Another devastating flood has struck Adamawa State, this time affecting Dugwaba District in Hong Local Government Area, cutting off access to surrounding villages and submerging large stretches of farmland.

This disaster comes barely two weeks after a similar flood event in Yola, the state capital, which claimed 29 lives, as confirmed by Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta during an update on Tuesday.

Local reports indicate that persistent heavy rainfall triggered the latest flooding in Dugwaba and its environs. By Wednesday evening, entire communities had been overwhelmed, with road networks linking Dugwaba to Yadul District and other nearby settlements rendered impassable.

The floodwaters reportedly inundated homes and swept through cultivated farmlands, compounding the economic toll for residents whose livelihoods depend heavily on agriculture.

The District Head of Dugwaba, Simon Buba Yakubu, has appealed for swift government intervention, describing the situation as dire and calling for urgent support to assist displaced residents.

By the close of Wednesday, no official casualties had been recorded in Dugwaba, though the scale of infrastructural and agricultural damage continues to rise.
