Jonathan Mourns Ghana’s Fallen Ministers in Tragic Helicopter Crash

Former Nigerian President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, has extended heartfelt condolences to Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama, following a tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of two cabinet ministers and several others in the Ashanti Region.

The fatal crash involved a military aircraft and led to the deaths of Ghana’s Minister of Defence, Edward Omane Boamah, and the Minister of Environment, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, along with six additional military and civilian personnel.

In a public message shared on his official social media handle, Jonathan expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing the deceased as dedicated public servants whose loss leaves a significant void in the governance and public service of Ghana.

He stated, “I extend my deepest condolences to President Mahama, the government and people of Ghana, and the bereaved families on the tragic incident of the military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Ghana’s Minister of Defence, Edward Omane Boamah, Minister of Environment, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, and other distinguished officers and citizens.”

Jonathan praised the deceased for their patriotism and dedication, noting that their service and sacrifices for peace and national progress would not be forgotten. He also offered prayers for comfort and strength to the bereaved and hoped their legacy would continue to inspire future generations of Ghanaian leaders.
