The Imo State Government has commenced the construction of a state-of-the-art bus terminal along Onitsha Road, opposite the Holy Ghost area in Owerri, aimed at improving transportation efficiency and passenger convenience across the state.

According to Ireporter Online, the project is part of a broader initiative by Governor Hope Uzodimma’s administration to establish three modern transport terminals within Owerri, each designed to enhance intercity and interstate travel.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Enlightenment, Prince Eze Ugochukwu, noted that the terminals are being developed by Planet Projects Limited — the same company behind the renowned Oshodi Transport Interchange in Lagos. He emphasized that the facilities will serve as comfortable and organized transport hubs connecting Owerri to major cities such as Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Enugu.

“These new terminals are modern transport centers designed to make traveling within and outside Imo State a smooth experience,” Ugochukwu stated, highlighting that work is already in progress at the Onitsha Road site with foundations being laid and structures taking shape.
