Deny Me A Visa And I’ll Head To Nigeria For Jollof Rice, Malema Tells The US

According to Ireporter Online, South Africa’s Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader, Julius Malema, has dismissed concerns over a potential visa denial by the United States, stating that he would rather visit African nations—especially Nigeria—where he feels truly at home.

Malema made the remarks during a political briefing in Johannesburg while outlining his party’s position ahead of its national general council meeting and addressing issues related to South Africa’s evolving government of national unity.

In a video from the event that has since gained widespread attention, the 44-year-old politician accused Western countries of undue interference in South Africa’s internal political processes. He stressed that the nation’s multiparty democratic structure must remain independent and protected from external influence.

Reaffirming his strong connection to the African continent, Malema said he had no worries about possible travel restrictions from the US. He noted that he would simply turn to other African countries—such as Nigeria, Zimbabwe, or Botswana—where he would always be welcomed.

“Even if America decides that I should no longer enter, it is okay. I will enter Zimbabwe, I will enter Botswana, I will enter Nigeria—I will enter Africa, my home,” he said.

He went on to mock the idea of being barred from the US, adding that he preferred the rich culinary traditions of Africa. Malema joked that he would rather enjoy jollof rice and pepper soup in Nigeria than eat burgers in America.

“Why should I be worried about people who want to feed me burgers and make me fat when I can go to Nigeria and eat jollof? Why must I fight for burgers instead of jollof?” he quipped.

Malema recalled his August trip to Nigeria for the Nigerian Bar Association’s annual conference, noting that he was warmly received and served the nation’s popular dishes. He declared that Western visa restrictions held no power over his personal choices or political stance.

“You want to threaten me with not giving me a visa to America or London? I do not care,” he stated confidently.
