Chaos On Tincan Bridge: Residents Grab Fuel After Petrol Tanker Overturns
According to Ireporter Online, a petrol-laden tanker overturned on the Tincan Liverpool Bridge in the Apapa area of Lagos on Monday, triggering panic as residents and passersby rushed to collect fuel from the spilt vehicle.
Eyewitnesses reported that the incident occurred during the early morning rush hour, causing the tanker’s contents to spill beneath the bridge and disrupting traffic in the area. As of the time of reporting, officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority and other emergency responders had not yet arrived to secure the scene.
Footage from the scene showed dozens of people using jerrycans, buckets, and other containers to gather the leaking petrol. Despite the significant fire risk, many residents positioned containers directly under the overturned tanker, while others waded through the spilled fuel to collect their share.
The dangerous situation sparked fears of a potential explosion due to the flammable nature of petrol and the proximity of vehicles and open flames in the vicinity.
