Bwari Sh*cker: PDP’s Julius Adamu Steps Down, Clears Way For APC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmanship candidate for Bwari Area Council, Julius Adamu, has officially withdrawn from the race, paving the way for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Joshua Ishaku Musa, to contest the upcoming Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Councils election scheduled for February 21, 2026. According to Ireporter Online, Adamu’s withdrawal comes just days before voters across the FCT are set to elect chairpersons for the territory’s six area councils.

Earlier this week, the Supreme Court of Nigeria affirmed Joshua Ishaku Musa as the legitimate APC candidate for Bwari Area Council, following legal disputes over party primaries. The apex court’s ruling overturned previous judgments and directed relevant authorities to publish Ishaku Musa’s name as the party’s standard-bearer.

Elections in the six FCT area councils—Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Kuje, Kwali, Abaji, Gwagwalada, and Bwari—are expected to be closely contested. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued notices urging voters to participate in the polls and has announced a strict crackdown on vote buying or selling.

INEC Chairman Joash Amupitan, SAN, stated that the Commission has deployed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to monitor polling units and immediately apprehend offenders. He emphasized that vote trading undermines electoral credibility and erodes public confidence in democratic processes.
