According to Ireporter Online, Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Wednesday. During the meeting, the governor briefed the President on the latest developments and the general state of affairs in Akwa Ibom.

The visit comes several months after Eno formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The governor had announced his defection on June 6, 2025, at the Government House in Uyo following three months of consultations with key stakeholders across the state.

At the time, Eno expressed gratitude to the PDP for its support during his tenure, emphasizing that the decision to leave the party was made after careful deliberation. He explained that his move to the APC was motivated by his respect and admiration for President Tinubu and the strategic need for the state to align with the Federal Government to access greater development opportunities.

Eno also highlighted that the decision was made from a position of strength rather than weakness. “We are joining the APC out of a need to align our state with the centre, not from a position of weakness,” he stated. He further assured residents that his commitment to the welfare of the people of Akwa Ibom remains steadfast regardless of party affiliation.
