Stop Playing Accuser, Investigator & Judge In Edo Crisis – APC Blasts ADC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly rebuffed allegations by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) linking it to a reported shooting involving opposition members in Edo State, describing the opposition party as “its own nemesis” in the unfolding controversy.

According to Ireporter Online, the APC, in a statement issued in Abuja on February 26, 2026, and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, dismissed the claims as unfounded and premature. The ruling party asserted that the ADC required no external force to undermine its political standing, accusing it of engaging in reckless public pronouncements capable of damaging its own credibility.

The statement faulted the ADC for allegedly attributing blame to the APC before the conclusion of any official investigation by law enforcement authorities. It described such action as illogical and a breach of due process, arguing that the opposition party had effectively assumed the roles of accuser, investigator, prosecutor, and judge in a matter still under review.

The APC further criticized the ADC’s reference to alleged “acts of terrorism,” branding the characterization as irresponsible and unjustifiable. It contended that such rhetoric reflected desperation and an attempt to generate public sympathy, while also trivializing the sacrifices of security personnel actively engaged in counter-terrorism operations across the country.

While firmly denying any involvement in the Edo incident, the ruling party reiterated its condemnation of political violence in all forms and called on the police and other relevant security agencies to conduct a swift and thorough investigation. It emphasized that violence has no place in Nigeria’s political space and urged all stakeholders to uphold constitutional order and democratic norms.

The APC also urged investigators to examine reports of internal disputes within the ADC, suggesting that factional tensions may have contributed to the crisis. Maintaining its innocence, the party stated that it remains focused on consolidating its recent electoral successes.

It referenced victories recorded in the Federal Capital Territory municipal elections and constituency polls in Rivers and Kano States, expressing appreciation to voters for what it described as renewed confidence in the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

The statement concluded with a reaffirmation of the party’s commitment to governance, pledging to continue efforts aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s democracy and fostering a more resilient and prosperous nation for all citizens.
