Iran Breaks Silence On Khamenei’s Alleged Death Amid U.S. Military Showdown
Iran has dismissed reports suggesting that its Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has been killed amid rising tensions with the United States.
According to Ireporter Online, the clarification was issued by Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, who stated that the country’s top leadership remains safe. Speaking during an interview from Tehran with NBC News, Araghchi said that Khamenei is alive “as far as I know,” stressing that “all high-ranking officials are alive.”
The minister further explained that Iran’s recent military actions were not directed at Gulf nations but specifically at American military bases located within those countries. He described the strikes as acts of self-defence, emphasizing that Tehran has no intention of attacking its regional neighbours.
Araghchi disclosed that he had reached out to Gulf states to clarify Iran’s position, noting that the operations were solely aimed at U.S. installations. He maintained that Iran remains open to dialogue and de-escalation, despite the absence of direct communication with Washington. According to him, if the United States seeks engagement, established channels of contact remain available, adding that Iran is “certainly interested in de-escalation.”
Tensions intensified on Saturday following military confrontations involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, further heightening concerns over regional stability.
