Jos Attack Thwarted: Plateau Govt Arrests Suspected Plotters
According to Ireporter Online, the Plateau State Government has confirmed the arrest of individuals who allegedly planned attacks in Jos following Ramadan. The announcement was made by Plateau State Commissioner for Information, Joyce Ramnap, during an interview on Arise Television on Tuesday.
Ramnap recalled the recent violent attack on Angwan Rukuba community in Jos North Local Government Area, which left at least 20 people dead and several others injured after heavily armed assailants stormed the area on Sunday. She emphasized that the government often cannot anticipate threats before they materialize but reaffirmed that those who publicly announced post-Ramadan attacks have now been apprehended.
The commissioner stressed that ensuring justice and public safety requires a collaborative effort. “The state government alone cannot achieve the necessary results,” she said, adding that all relevant authorities and citizens share a responsibility to hold perpetrators accountable.
Ramnap further noted that the investigation and prosecution of the suspects would follow due legal process, involving the police, judiciary, and other security agencies. She also highlighted the recent visit of the Deputy Inspector-General of Police to Plateau State, during which the governor underscored the importance of seeing the investigation through to a successful outcome and securing additional arrests where necessary.
