Victor Osimhen Named Among World’s Most Valuable Stars Yet To Play At FIFA World Cup
Erling Haaland has been identified as the most valuable footballer yet to feature at the FIFA World Cup, according to a recent valuation report cited by Ireporter Online. The Manchester City striker is currently valued at €200 million, placing him significantly ahead of others on the list by a margin of €60 million.
The report further revealed that Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz share second position, each with a valuation of €140 million. Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen follows closely with a market value of €120 million, while Martin Ødegaard completes the top five with a similar valuation. Other notable players in the ranking include Dominik Szoboszlai, Jan Oblak, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Marc-André ter Stegen and Luis Díaz, all of whom feature prominently among the top ten.
Osimhen’s inclusion has drawn attention to Nigeria’s continued absence from the global tournament. According to Ireporter Online, the Nigeria national football team failed to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after suffering defeat to the DR Congo national football team in the continental play-off final, extending their absence following a missed opportunity in 2022.
The situation has left several Nigerian talents without World Cup experience, including Samuel Chukwueze, Ademola Lookman, Moses Simon, Calvin Bassey, Victor Boniface and Ola Aina.
Despite this, Osimhen’s international record continues to underline his quality. Since making his senior debut in 2017, the forward has established himself as a key figure in Nigeria’s attack, scoring 35 goals in 46 appearances to become the country’s second-highest goalscorer, closing in on the long-standing record held by Rashidi Yekini. He also played a pivotal role in recent Africa Cup of Nations campaigns and was crowned African Footballer of the Year in 2023. However, a FIFA World Cup appearance remains the notable omission in his otherwise impressive career.
