Fani-Kayode Blasts ADC Leaders: ‘Rejected By Court, INEC, And Nigerians

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Femi Fani-Kayode, has criticized the African Democratic Congress (ADC) following the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) decision to remove Senator David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from its leadership portal.

In a post shared on his handle on Thursday, Fani-Kayode described the development as a significant setback for the opposition party, mocking its leaders over the ongoing leadership crisis.

“Given the fact that they have been affected by the decisions of the courts and INEC and they no longer have a party and platform to stand and run on… who are the ones that have been rejected now?” he said, noting that the party had suffered repeated political setbacks.

He further asserted that the ADC had been rejected on multiple fronts. “They have been rejected by the courts, rejected by INEC, rejected by their original founders and rejected by the Nigerian people,” he added.

Fani-Kayode questioned the party’s readiness for the 2027 general elections, suggesting that its leaders focus on rebuilding instead. “May I suggest that they channel all their energy to building up and forming a real opposition party over the next five years and then field a candidate for the 2031 presidential election? Given the circumstances, that is their best bet because 2027 is already lost to them,” he said.

The APC chieftain also criticized the ADC’s approach to politics, accusing its leadership of prioritizing rhetoric over tangible solutions. He condemned the party for relying on media stunts, social media trolling, foreign influence, and spreading misinformation while offering no concrete strategies for governance.

INEC’s removal of Mark and Aregbesola followed the commission’s interpretation of a Court of Appeal ruling on the party’s leadership dispute. The decision has generated reactions from political stakeholders and members of the public.

Despite the leadership controversy, the ADC reported that over 40,000 Nigerians joined the party since the announcement, indicating continued interest from supporters.
