Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Tems has opened up on the transformative impact of her music career, revealing how it reshaped her personality and emotional outlook. According to Ireporter Online, the award-winning artist disclosed during a recent interview that her journey in the music industry helped her confront and overcome traits of extreme independence that once affected her relationships.

The singer explained that before rising to fame, she often distanced herself from others due to her self-reliant nature, a pattern she now recognises as limiting. However, as her career progressed, she noted that the demands and experiences of being an artist forced her to grow, prompting her to let go of habits that no longer served her personal development.

She further stated that embracing music not only elevated her career but also encouraged her to become more emotionally open, allowing her to accept and express love more freely without discomfort.

Tems began her music journey in 2018 with the release of her debut single ‘Mr Rebel’, but gained international recognition following her contribution to Essence by Wizkid in 2020. Since then, she has collaborated with global stars such as Drake, Beyoncé, and Justin Bieber, earning multiple accolades including two Grammy Awards. She also made history as the first Nigerian artist to surpass 40 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
