Born in Portugal to a Portuguese family, Tiago could have pursued a conventional life in Europe, but at the age of 10 in 2010, he moved to Nigeria where his life took a dramatic cultural turn. He was received into the royal household of the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, who reportedly gave him the Yoruba name “Ishola,” marking the beginning of his deep integration into Yoruba tradition.

Now widely recognized as a comedian, actor, and digital content creator, Tiago Ishola has become famous for his fluent Yoruba speech, cultural skits, and humorous takes on everyday Nigerian life. His content, which blends traditional Yoruba expressions with modern comedy, has earned him a strong following across platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

Despite his European appearance and mixed Portuguese heritage, Tiago strongly identifies with Yoruba culture and often uses his platform to promote and preserve indigenous language and traditions. His upbringing in Nigeria, particularly in Ibadan and within the cultural environment of the Oyo royal palace, played a key role in shaping his identity and fluency in Yoruba.
