The national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed strong confidence in its chances of reclaiming Osun State in the 2026 governorship election.

According to Ireporter Online, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the poll for August 8, setting the stage for a high-stakes political contest in the state.

The incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, who defeated former governor Gboyega Oyetola of the APC in the 2022 election, is expected to seek re-election. However, his political trajectory has shifted following internal tensions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), leading to his reported move to the Accord Party, where he is now positioning for a second term.

Political observers have noted that Adeleke’s new platform may face structural limitations at the grassroots level, a factor that could influence voter support. The upcoming election is also anticipated to be a three-way contest, with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) emerging as another significant contender.
