The exchange rate between the US dollar and the Nigerian naira at the parallel market, commonly referred to as the black market, remained a key focus for traders on April 25, 2026. According to market insights obtained by Ireporter Online, Bureau De Change operators in Lagos indicated that the dollar was sold at approximately ₦1,400 and purchased at around ₦1,390 during trading on Saturday. These figures reflect prevailing sentiments within the informal forex market, where rates are largely driven by demand and supply dynamics.

Reports further highlight that the Central Bank of Nigeria maintains its stance against the recognition of the parallel market, urging individuals and businesses seeking foreign exchange transactions to utilize official banking channels. Data from the apex bank shows that the dollar traded within a range, with the highest rate recorded at ₦1,361 and the lowest at ₦1,354 for the day.

Market observers, however, note that exchange rates across both official and unofficial channels are subject to fluctuations, meaning the actual rates offered to buyers and sellers may vary slightly from quoted figures depending on location and transaction volume.
