According to Ireporter Online, the Nigerian foreign exchange market witnessed fresh movements as the naira continued to trade at varying rates against the United States dollar in the parallel market on Sunday, April 26th, 2026.

Market data obtained from Bureau De Change operators in Lagos indicated that the US dollar was exchanged at approximately ₦1,400 for selling and ₦1,390 for buying in the black market, commonly referred to as the Aboki FX market. This reflects ongoing fluctuations in the informal forex segment, where rates are largely driven by demand and supply dynamics.

In contrast, the Central Bank of Nigeria maintained its official exchange rate range, with the dollar trading between ₦1,354 and ₦1,361. The apex bank, however, has consistently disapproved of transactions carried out in the parallel market, advising individuals and businesses to conduct foreign exchange dealings through authorized financial institutions.

Despite regulatory positions, the disparity between the official and parallel market rates continues to highlight pressure within Nigeria’s foreign exchange system, as traders and consumers adjust to persistent volatility.
